M1 Week of Joy
The second annual Week of Joy kicked off on December 11th, with Members First Credit Union’s team spreading kindness across Michigan communities by surprising residents, businesses, and nonprofits with a $50 VISA gift card as a random act of kindness. M1 invested $13,000 in Holiday Joy by distributing 260 $50 gift cards in Michigan communities.
What began as a celebration of the credit union’s brand refresh last year has grown into an annual tradition focused on building meaningful connections. During the Week of Joy, team members visited local areas, surprising grocery store clerks, customers, waste management workers, delivery drivers, service workers, daycare providers, mechanics, small businesses, nonprofits, and other community members who play a vital role in making neighborhoods thrive.
“Our Week of Joy is a celebration of what we here at M1 live by every day, spreading joy to others in our community, shared Rob Vincent, M1 team member. “This was my first Week of Joy, and it was an amazing experience! It brings me so much happiness to hear our stories of how we were able to make an impact in our communities!”
The impact of the Week of Joy was felt far and wide, with countless heartwarming stories shared throughout the week. One memorable moment involved a gentleman riding a bus to the Commission on Aging, who received a surprise gift card. Overwhelmed by the unexpected gesture, he expressed his gratitude, sharing how much it had brightened his day and made him feel truly appreciated. Stories like this and many others, showcased the power of kindness and its positive influence on individuals and communities.
“I love our Week of Joy! I am proud of our team for embracing this opportunity to uplift and support the people and organizations in our neighborhoods,” said Carrie Iafrate, President & CEO of Members First Credit Union. “It’s one of the most joyful ways we help create thriving communities!”
As the Week of Joy continues to grow, M1 is inviting everyone to join the movement to #SpreadtheJoy. The credit union hopes this initiative will become more than just a holiday tradition—it’s about celebrating the unsung heroes in our neighborhoods and building stronger, more connected communities all year long.
