Investing in Future Leaders: M1 Scholarship Recipients

4/30/2026

Members First Credit Union (M1), celebrating 90 years of serving members and communities, is proud to award $2,500 each to four students who demonstrate leadership, academic excellence, and a commitment to their communities. These scholarships continue M1’s long-standing mission of supporting members who are making a difference through higher education and shaping the future of their communities.

Abigail Boyd, a senior at Clare High School, will attend Northwood University to study Entrepreneurship and Marketing. An engaged student and multi-sport athlete, she has been active in Business Professionals of America and Student Council and plans to pursue an accelerated degree while competing in track and field.

Grace Spence, a senior at Mt. Pleasant Public Schools, will attend Grand Valley State University to study Nursing. Passionate about service, she serves as Vice President of the National Honor Society and has organized multiple Red Cross blood drives while supporting community outreach initiatives.

Kyley Wyman, a senior at Clare High School, will attend Central Michigan University to study Biochemistry on a pre-dental track. An accomplished student with a strong commitment to service, she has served as Student Body President, founded the Made For More Initiative, and plans to pursue a career as an orthodontist.

Summer Pomaville, a graduate of Pinconning High School and current student at Michigan State University, is studying Business with a focus on Human Resources and Sports Business Management. Highly involved on campus, she participates in several organizations and continues her commitment to community service through volunteer work and engagement.

“Supporting students has always been at the heart of who we are,” said Chelsea McKenzie, Community Impact Leader at Members First Credit Union. “Founded 90 years ago by educators, we carry that legacy forward by investing in individuals who are driven to learn, grow, and give back. These four students truly embody that spirit, and we’re proud to support them as they take the next step in their journey.”

The M1 Scholarship Program is funded through the Swinging for Scholarships Golf Outing, a 28-year tradition that brings members, businesses, and the community together to support the next generation of leaders. The 2026 outing will be held on July 22, and there is still time to sign up as a golfer or sponsor to support this impactful cause.
