M1 Awards $18,750 to Rescue Ministries
Members First Credit Union (M1) is proud to announce it will award $15,000 in grant funds to Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan via the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis’ Community Multiplier – Member Match program. By contributing $3,750, M1 unlocked a 4-to-1 match from FHLBank Indianapolis, resulting in a total investment of $18,750 to support Rescue Ministries services that improve stability and retention for residents of affordable housing.
Members First Credit Union CEO, Carrie Iafrate, celebrates this partnership, “We are honored to partner with FHLBank Indianapolis to multiply our community impact. Our combined $18,750 investment supports Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan's vital work, ensuring our vulnerable neighbors receive the emergency shelter, wraparound care, and stable foundation they need to achieve lasting independence - at home. At M1, we are deeply dedicated to encouraging a better tomorrow and putting the philosophy of ‘people helping people’ into action.”
The grant will support Rescue Ministries’ Impact Shelter Program, providing individualized case management, life-skills instruction and housing-placement assistance for guests of its City Rescue Mission. After securing permanent housing, participants become eligible for Impact Designs, which provides move-in assistance, donated furniture and household essentials, and follow-up case management. Each living space is personalized to reflect the participant’s needs and preferences, helping their new apartment truly feel like home. Impressively, 90% of guests who receive Impact Designs services remain stably housed after 2 years.
Dan Streeter, Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan CEO expresses the powerful meaning of this funding, “We are extremely grateful for the partnership with Members First Credit Union and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis for providing this grant which will allow us to provide a stable place of residency for our homeless neighbors. A place they can call ‘home’! This investment will help provide a safe place for families in need with the hope that they will never have to experience homelessness again.”
