A Note from our CEO, Carrie Iafrate
President & CEO Note to Membership
October 2024
Fall is my favorite season. It reminds us that change can be beautiful.
I was recently going through boxes I have inherited from my Mom and Grandma. Along with keepsakes, photos, yearbooks, and Dow Chemical patents my Grandpa earned, I came across Midland Teacher’s Credit Union deposit slips from the 1970s and 80s. They were filled out and signed with ink pen. There were carefully produced adding machine tapes stapled to them. As your CEO, it was heartwarming for me to find these unique pieces of our history. I became reflective on how much we have grown and changed since then. As people, as a credit union, as a community.
You drive us to embrace advancing technologies and innovative approaches. You seek value and inclusive services. You ask us to listen, stay curious, and amplify our communication and delivery channels. You ask us to be where you are. We have provided you many new ways to save, communicate, borrow, interact, budget, manage your credit score (my grandma didn’t ever have a credit score), and grow your businesses.
The next change we are going through together is the elevation of vibrant, healthy growth. In line with our vision to create thriving communities, I am thrilled to announce the expansion of our branch network into the Saginaw area! This exciting initiative, located at 4955 Bay Road, is far more than opening a branch building. We are committed to delivering our vibrant brand and culture, fostering financial wellbeing, and building lasting relationships in the Saginaw community.
By establishing our presence here, we aim to provide more of the exceptional service that you have come to trust, appreciate, and ask of us. You can learn more by visiting www.mfcu.net/JoyInSaginaw. We invite you to collaborate with us in spreading joy through every step of this new journey.
I am certain these changes give you a credit union that empowers you on your own journey of wellbeing. Our culture reflects the realities and genuineness of our people and their own experience. People who truly care to be serving you with no judgement, just opportunity. I am honored and grateful our team voted us one of American Banker’s Best Credit Unions to Work For a second year in a row. We also moved up into one of the top 50 credit unions in the nation!
In the fall we can hear the local high school marching band from our house. The school buses and kids are on regular early morning and afternoon schedules up and down our street. There are plenty of sporting events, festivals, orchards and farms, and community occasions to be gathering at. I encourage you to gather with others; far better to go through change together and be reminded that it can be beautiful.
