Swinging for Scholarships Golf Outing Recap

We are so proud of our Members First Community for supporting our event to raise funds for student success!

This year our golf outing raised over $12,000 and was held on August 30, 2022 at Pohl Cat Golf Course in Mt Pleasant, Michigan. Proceeds from the golf outing will fund scholarships for local students attending college or trade school in 2023.

“The energy at this year’s golf outing was electric! Our team is honored by the way our members, vendor partners, and community businesses showed up” noted Carrie Iafrate, MFCU’s Chief Executive Officer. “Over 24 year’s time, the event has elevated from a golf outing, to awarding two $500 scholarships, to raising over $10,000 annually for the program. Outstanding showing of people helping people!”

Founded as credit union for teachers and school employees in 1936, we are so proud to help local students pursue their passion for further education. The Swinging for Scholarships Golf Outing is currently the only fundraiser we have to raise funds for the scholarship program, and has seen tremendous growth over the years. What started as two $500 scholarships, has grown to now award four $2,500 scholarships to encourage a better tomorrow for local students.
